"Hagi ware of the Aohagi Fluctuation Series by Choungama.
This Yuragi plate has a solid presence and an impressive deep, deep blue color, like the color of the universe.
The balance between the beautiful blue color spreading from the center of the plate and the gentle clay texture unique to Hagi ware is exquisite.
The warmth of the handmade process and the rustic feel of Hagiyaki pottery gently accompany the user because each dish is carefully crafted one by one by artisans.
Ao-hagi," born from failure
Aohagi was created by Mr. Susumu Notomi of Choungama in Hagi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, who is a craftsman of Hagi ware.
Nowadays, his Ao-hagi vessels, which freely express the beautiful blue color, are said to be synonymous with him.
However, the origin of Ao-hagi was a mistake that caused the glaze to flow too much.
The blue color of the glaze that flowed and accumulated was so beautiful that he came up with the idea of turning that beautiful blue color into a product.
After much research and study, these clear, transparent blue vessels were born.
The stylish design fits the modern lifestyle, and the craftsmanship of the traditional craftsmen shines through in these vessels.
The "Ao-hagi" is not intended as a "work" of traditional craftsmanship, but rather as an item for everyday use, which is Nortomi's wish."
