Kutani Wa Glass was created by fusing Kutani Yaki, a traditional craft that Ishikawa Prefecture is proud of, and Edo glass, which has been handed down from generation to generation in Tokyo.
The legs are all made of Kutani Yaki porcelain with hand-painted colored patterns, and the glass part is made of blown glass by Edo glass.
Each piece is one-of-a-kind because it is carefully handmade one by one by artists and craftsmen. The delicate brush strokes and the soft light emanating from the glass give a sense of the creator's breath, making it a product that one cannot help but gaze at carefully.
Inheriting the two historic traditions, the glassware has a prestige, but at the same time, it also exudes a freedom that does not require a Japanese or Western style, and an unpretentious beauty that can only be achieved with handmade products.
It is a "new traditional craft" for the modern lifestyle that can be easily incorporated into daily life.
Sometsuke Nejiri Tokusa
The striped pattern "Tokusa," which has been popular in Japan since ancient times, has been literally twisted into a "Nejiri-Tokusa" design.
The unique indigo blue color of the underglaze blue shows subtle shading with a tasteful flavor, and combined with the carefully drawn lines one by one, the result is simple but beautiful.
